ABUs, we will be back

One moment, one decision, one color, one card - and the castle of dreams falls flat on the ground. The dream of every Manchester United fan, the dream of a Treble lay in tatters. We surely thought this was our year, that this would be the year of the fourth European title. That Van Persie was the answer to our hapless European journeys over the past couple of seasons.

But fate had other cruel ideas. And fate in the form of the referee, dished out an unfair red card, as many would argue. Ferguson's reaction after the red card was shown, sums it up perfectly. Everyone was dumbfounded. They couldnt believe what they just saw. Beating Real Madrid with 11 men is a huge task in itself, and now we had to it with 10 men. Some went berserk, some just couldnt accept the referee's decision.

The players were affected the most as it was clearly evident by their body language. Though they had the confidence and conviction to win the game even in the last 10-15 minutes (which is something I am really proud of, as a Manchester United fan), fate intervened again in the form of Diego Lopez.
Sometimes you wonder, it just wasnt our night. It just wasnt meant to be. Everything was perfect until the red card, so perfect that it had to fall apart.
And in these times, the ABUs (Anyone But United) come out with their typical rants. That Manchester United deserved this. That this had to happen because they say, Karma is a bitch.

Which compels me to ask - Is this really about Karma? Or is it the fact that people are so obviously frustrated, tired and envious of Manchester United that they stoop to such idiotic levels of conclusion?
It is clear that ABUs only watch Manchester United matches nowadays to sit and make note of any decision that goes in Manchester United's favour, even the smallest and inconsequential of decisions. I wonder, has anyone ever done it the other way round? Has anyone made a note of the decisions that have gone against Manchester United? I assure you that you will be surprised. And definitely ashamed.

We, Manchester United fans, have accepted that this was the referee's mistake and that nothing can be done about it now. Some decisions go in your favour and some dont. But what irritates us the most is watching ABUs post everywhere on social media about how Manchester United deserved it and then remind us about decisions from the past matches that have gone in our favour. I wonder, are they really that jealous? Are they really that butthurt? Is Manchester United's downfall the only thing that brings joy in their life? If so, then I pity their lives. Go watch Family Guy, buddy. I assure you that you wont be disappointed by the show.
Because Manchester United will disappoint you. Because we will be back next year. We have already put City in their rightful place in the League after the dramatic finish last season. So trust me, Europe is next, bitches.

  1. really awesomely written. Kudos.
We don't need to worry about the abus. And they don't need to remind us of the result, but they need be reminded of the way the result was reached. We got the respect we deserved from the likes of mourinho. Everyone accepts that we were better team in the game. And that the decision made was unnecessary and changed the due course of the game. It's results that matter, is known to all, but the way that comes is not way far behind in terms of importance. And all united fans are proud of the way we played, the way we contained them, the way we were the deserving of a win. Nevertheless, its time to look forward and forget about the past.

    1. Yes. Remember the famous lines of Jimmy Murphy -
"Don’t tell me what can’t be done. When Matt Busby brought me here, they told me we’d never make a go of it, that it couldn’t be done. That Manchester United would never make a success. Told us we couldn’t win the league, playing kids. Told us we couldn’t match the best teams in Europe. And every bloody time we proved them wrong, so with respect sir, it can be done, it will be done, I’ll make sure of it.”

Lets just get done with the league this season and prepare for Europe next season.
